Oil company Rosneft, which appeared at Russian bunkering market in late 2007, plans to sell 0.6-1 million tonnes of marine fuel in 2008. According to PortNews IAA correspondent, the figure was announced by Oleg Filatov, head of bunkering business section of the company’s Department for export of crude oil and petroleum products, at "Fuel Oil Trading and Bunkering" - IV International Forum.
According to Mr. Filatov, such sales will be possible “owing to the company’s owned assets”. By 2010, Rosneft will be able to increase bunker sales to 3-5 million tonnes per year through involving additional facilities for fuel transshipment in the ports of Russia and other countries. According to estimations made by Rosneft experts, Russian bunkering market potential is 10-11 million tonnes per year. Mr. Filatov forecasts that the port of St. Petersburg, being the largest regional market of Russia, accounts for 3 million tonnes of marine fuel per year.
According to analytical department of PortNews IAA, sales of marine fuel at the bunkering market of St. Petersburg totaled 1.7 million tonnes in 2006, while this year the figure is likely to raise to 2 million tonnes.
