STX wins $264m tanker order

STX Shipbuilding, the world's fifth-largest yard, received a contract from the Middle East to build four chemical tankers for 245 billion won ($264 million), almost meeting its order target for this year.
The 75,000-deadweight-tonne, mid-size vessels will be delivered by June 30, 2011, the Jinhae, South Korea-based company said in a regulatory filing.
Shipyards in South Korea, the largest shipbuilding nation, have received record orders for a fifth straight year as demand has surged for vessels to transport raw materials to China and finished goods to the rest of the world.
The shipbuilders have enough orders to keep them busy for about four years.
