Haikou port will add two container berths in October 2008, when the port's second phase is complete, Xinhua reported.
The CNY778 million (US$105.1 million) project covers two 30,000 tonne container berths with annual handling capacity of 450,000 TEU and supporting facilities.
One of the container berths is also designed to accommodate international passenger liners and is expected to handle 100,000 passengers a year.
