Air Sea Transport Co Ltd said it would co-operate with Weihai port to launch a container feeder service between Weihai and Qingdao.
A joint venture called Weihai Gangsheng Shipping Co Ltd was set up to operate the new feeder service with two vessels of He Hu and Xin Cha Shan, an Air Sea company statement said.
Weihai port and Qingdao port have co-operated on the same route since 2003, which supports the growth of Weihai's container throughput and is named the "golden route" of Weihai port, the statement said.
The Weihai-Qingdao feeder service is expected to handle 100,000 TEU in 2007, the statement added.
Air Sea is a global freight forwarder providing logistics services of international transport, storage, customs clearance and inspection agent, packaging and distribution.
