Throughput of Ukrainian state ports up 9.92% in Jan-Oct 07, y-o-y

In January-October 2007, state ports of Ukraine (19 commercial seaports) handled 102.782 million tonnes (+9.92%, year-on-year), RZD-Partner reports.

The growth was mainly driven by transit transportation, which exceeded the y-o-y result by over 7.9 million tonnes to 43.6 million tonnes (+22.3% against a 10.8-percent growth in the same period of the previous year). Import grew by 31.4% to 9.793 million tonnes (against 8-percent growth in the same period of the previous year).

Export continues to decrease - - 5.51% (-0.3% in the same period of 2006). In the reported period export accounted for 43.6% in total turnover (down from 50.6% in 2006).
