Onega Shipyard launches m/v Captain Konkin

Onega Shipyard LLC (Russia, Republic of Karelia) has launched m/v Captain Konkin, the company reports according to RBC. Onega Shipyard plans to deliver the vessel to the customer in May-June 2008, though it does not reveal the customer or the value of the order.

Captain Konkin is the tenth vessel of the series Karelia project 005RSD03. The capacity of the vessels of the series are 5,467 dwt, the capacity of holds is 7,833 cubic meters, the capacity of propelling engines is 2,400 kWt. It is intended for transportation of timber, bulk, grain and large-dimension cargoes, including containers of international standard.  

The shipyard started construction of this series in 2003. From 2005 it delivers 3 vessels per year. The delivery of the seventh vessel of the series (Vasili Klimov) was taken by the customer on May 8, 2007, the eighth (Captain Abakumov) – On July 6, 2007. The delivery of the ninth one (Mechanic Kovalenko) is scheduled for the end of 2007.

Besides this series the shipyard is currently building the vessels project DSV33 (for export to European Union).

Onega Shipyard LLC is situated on the shore of lake Onega in Karelia. The shipyard was created on the base of the shipbuilding and ship-repairing facilities of the OJSC White Sea and Onega shipping company and is its daughter company. Together with White Sea and Onega shipping company the Onega Shipyard is included in the transportation group of the companies of the Concern Orimi.
