Russian Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov has called for the adoption of a special sub-programme for the development of Chukotka, Kamchatka, Sakhalin and Magadan, Itar-Tass reports. It is necessary to give special attention in it to issues of taxation, including consider a possibility of creation of a special economic zone on Sakhalin and Kamchatka.
Zubkov made this statement at a government meeting on Thursday at which he shared with the colleagues his impressions from his recent trip to the Far East.
Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov has ordered Vice-premier, Finance Minister Aleksei Kudrin to trace one billion roubles that failed to get to Nevelsk in the Russian Far East. The money in question was part of the funds the government had allocated to construction purposes.
