Ukrainian state-owned enterprise “Nikolaev Shipbuilding Yard named after 61 Communars” has formed its backlog of orders for 2008, Ukraine Industrial reports. It basic orders are for construction of three hulls for a Dutch company. The contract was signed owing to the yard’s cooperation with Kherson shipbuilders experienced in construction of such tankers.
Besides, negotiations with a Norwegian customer on construction of two container carriers are nearing the completion, Ukrinform reports. According to the yard’s deputy Director General, from 2009, “Nikolaev Shipbuilding61 Communars” is likely to transfer from hull construction to complete construction of vessels.
