Marine transportation by Byelorussian companies up 31.5% in Jan-Nov 07, y-o-y

In January-November 2007, transport-and-forwarding companies of Byelorussia transported 3.4 million tonnes of cargo (+31.5%, year-on-year), Interfax reports according to Gudok.RU. According to the source the information was received from the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Byelorussia. The Ministry forecasts marine transportation of at least 3.5 million tonnes of cargo this year, while in 2006 Byelorussia increased the volume of marine transportation of foreign trade cargo arranged by the state’s residents by 23.1%, year-on-year, to 3.1 million tonnes.

In January-November 2007, Byelorussian internal waterway transport companies carried 4.3 million tonnes of cargo (+20.2%, year-on-year), while the throughput of the ports totaled 9.6 million tonnes (+14.9%).

In January-November 2007, Byelorussian water transport companies invested BYR 6.5 billion into their fixed assets (+23.7%, year-on-year). In the 10-month period, the companies’ proceeds by 30.6% to BYR 55 billion, net profit amounted to BYR 1.9 billion.
