Gazpromneft Marine Bunker plans to occupy 30% of Russian bunkering market by 2010

By 2010, Gazpromneft  Marine Bunker plans to occupy up to 30% of Russian bunkering market, the company announces according to RBC. From the beginning of December the company sold 5,000 tonnes of marine fuel in the port of St. Petersburg. Gazpromneft  Marine Bunker LLC was incorporated by Gazprom Neft   in October 2007 for arrangement of all-the-year-round supply of heavy fuel oil, bunker and lubes for marine transport. By 2009, the company plans to sell 1.5 million tonnes per year. According to  Andrei Vasiljev, Director General of Gazpromneft  Marine Bunker, the company’s staff  has already been completed with specialists,  the agreements are signed for the lease of oil tank farms and bunkering tankers. Besides, the delivery of fuel from the plants to the end users has already started. The first bunkering operation in the port of St. Petersburg was carried out on December 9. The Baltic Sky refrigerated cargo carrier (under management of freight company Baltic Shipping) was filled with 700 tonnes of fuel.

Gazpromneft  Marine Bunker also supplies fuel to the ports of the Far East. The majority of marine fuel comes from Omsk Refinery (owned by Gazprom Neft ) as well as from Moscow and Yaroslavl refineries, the capital of which is partly owned by the oil company. In the nearest future, Omsk Refinery will start production of marine fuel under international standard ISO 8217. It will enable Gazprom Neft to expand its share at the bunkering market, Vasiljev says.
