Throughput of Russian Railways up 7% in 2007, loading up 2.5% - Yakunin

In 2007, throughput of Russian Railways (RZD OJSC) increased by over 7%, while loading grew by 2.5%, Vladimir Yakunin, RZD President announced at the company’s BOD meeting, Gudok.Ru reports. On October 17, daily loading reached the record level throughout a 14-year period – 4.290 million tonnes. The speed of cargo delivery grew by almost 3%, while the transport component in the final price of the goods fell by over 5%.

According to Mr. Yakunin, the company demonstrates high dynamics of finished goods loading: machines and equipment (+14%), cars (+30%), metal structures (18%), containerized cargo (+5%).

The program of transit potential development enabled the company to increase transit cargo transportation by over 30%.
