By the end of 2007, Zabaikalsk branch of Transcontainer OJSC plans to spend RUR 600 million for construction of a container terminal at Zabaikalsk station (Chita region), press center of Zabaikalsk Railways (branch of Russian Railways OJSC) reports according to Interfax.
All in all it is planned to spend RUR 1.4 billion for the terminal construction by July 2008. Container ground of the terminal is to cover 160,000 square meters, which is enough for storing large capacity containers for four trains.
The construction is to be completed by July 2008. The terminal will be capable of handling 549 container per day, or 200,000 containers per year. It will be equipped with portal bridge cranes and three 40-tonn Kalmar loaders.
Transcontainer OJSC started its activities on July 1 2006 as a 100%-percent subsidiary of Russian Railways OJSC. The company operates 44,600 large-capacity containers and 23,000 platforms for container transportation.
