First Vice-Premier Sergei Ivanov is currently holding a meeting of the Russian Maritime Collegium, which is discussing problems of navigation safety, Itar-Tass reports.
Officials of Ivanov’s Secretariat told Itar-Tass that “the meeting is discussing problems linked with the implementation of the Russian Maritime Doctrine and relating to navigation safety, and also the concept of forming a unified information space for Russian marine navigation”.
The problem of navigation safety, Ivanov stated in the course of the president’s Monday meeting with cabinet members, “is most timely in view of the recent accidents and tragedies in the Sea of Azov”. “All their consequences have already been eliminated and the black oil, which had spilled out of a wrecked ship, has been fully pumped out. Therefore, there are today no environmental aftermaths nor can be any,” he added.
