Zhejiang Shangyu to build 10 million tonne terminals

Shangyu port located in the mouth of Qiantangjiang River in Zhejiang is planning new terminals with total annual capacity of 10 million tons, Xinhua reported.
Site of the Shangyu new port will be on the eastern coast of Hangzhou Bay with depth of 6-7 metres, which is suitable for developing terminals for containers, bulk cargo, coal and chemicals.
Capacity of the new port will be 40 times larger than the present Shangyu facility, which can accommodate 3,000-tonne vessels and handle 245,000 tons of cargo a year, the report said.
The new port will be an area providing transportation services for the Hangzhou Bay Shangyu Industrial Park, which has attracted more than 160 manufacturers from home and abroad, the report said.
Shangyu city has also reserved coastline to the west of the new port for expansion, the report added.
