Sevmash finished the construction a diesel engine-electric submarine B-90 «Sarov»

According to the press-service of the company the sub was taken out of the slipway on December, 14. It was built within the frameworks of the State Defense Order. The cost of the sub is not disclosed. The submarine is experimental and is referred to as a “universal test bed” intended for testing and perfecting new and modernized samples of arms and military hardware. The sub is made with a view to its long-term operation and the opportunity for numerous modernizations. The sub was designed by the SPB based Rubin in 1989. Construction first commenced in the same year at the enterprise "Krasnoe Sormovo" (Nizhni Novgorod) and later was taken over by Sevmash. Plant’s and state tests of the sub are planned for 2008.
