“The cost of the project, which is to be built on an 85,000 square-meter shipyard, is estimated at $390 million. The facility is expected to employ some 10,000 people upon completion,” IRNA quoted Iran's economic attaché in Turkey, Mohammad Kazem Maleki, as saying.
A team of Turkish officials had previously met and discussed the giant project with a group of Japanese experts, who, according to Maleki, view Turkey as a suitable venue for the establishment of such a facility in terms of its ready access to the Middle Eastern, Asian, European and African markets.
Based on statistics issued by the Turkish authorities, the country succeeded in attracting $20 billion in foreign investment in 2006.
