Oil leaks in Omsk region after unsanctioned siphoning
Oil products spilled in the Omsk region as a result of unsanctioned siphoning, an emergencies ministry department told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.
“The contaminated area is 11,000 square meters,” the department’s official said.
On Monday, the illegal oil taking caused a rupture in a section of the Ufa-Omsk oil pipeline in the village of Orlovka, 69 kilometres west of Omsk.
“The broken section was closed. Repair work is underway. Volumes of the spilled fuel are being specified,” the official said.
There is no threat to the population and environment, the ministry said.
