Throughput of Nakhodka port up 29.6% to 8.5 mln t in H1 08
In January-June 2008, Nakhodka port handled 8.474.0 million tonnes of cargo (+29.6%, year-on-year), PortNews IAA learnt from Vostochny branch of RosMorPort FSUE. In the reported period, the port handled 5.233.7 mln tonnes of dry cargo (+28.3%, y-o-y) including 1.104.7 mln tonnes dry bulk and loose cargo (up 21 times year-on-year). Transshipment of ore grew 4.6 times to 208,800 tonnes , coal – 145.4 times to 814,200 tonnes. In the 6-month period, the port handled 531,700 tonnes of timber (down 3.1 times, y-o-y) including 386,900 tonnes of round timber (down 3.6 times), 144,800 tonnes of sawn timber (down 1.8 times). In January-June the port handled 3.465.9 mln tonnes of general cargo (+53.7%) including 2.798.1 mln tonnes of ferrous metal (+41.3%), 126,200 tonnes of non-ferrous metal (+82.6%), 92,0 00 tonnes of scrap metal (+15.4%). Transshipment of refrigerated cargo amounted to 19,000 tonnes (+10.5%), packaged cargo – up 2.7 times to 255,700 tonnes. In the reported period container throughput grew by 31% to 27,821 TEU. Transshipment of oil products made 3.240.3 mln tonnes (+31.9%).
Nakhodka port is located on both coasts in the northern part of Nakhodka Bay. The port has year round navigation. It is linked with railway systems of Russia and Western Europe by Trans-Siberian Line.
