FESCO opens linear ro-ro service to Japanese port of Hamada

FESCO Transport Group has signed agreement with Light International Business Hamada and Simane prefecture of Japan on opening of a regular sea ro-ro service from the port of Hamada to Vladivostok, the Group reports.

The port of Hamada (south-east coast of Japan, Simane) is to become a new port of call apart from the current ports of call at FESCO Ro-Ro Line: Yokohama, Nagoya, Kobe, Osaka, Fusiki. FESCO Nikolay capable of carrying 600 ro-ro units will operate at the line. The first call is scheduled for July 26.

At the initial stage it is planned to make 2 calls per month. Then Vladivostok-Hamada-Vladivostok is to become a weekly service.

FESCO Transport Group created on the basis of Far Eastern Shipping Company is one of the leading container operators in Russia. In 2007, the Group’s throughput exceeded 2.4 million TEU.
