Long Beach posts a 17.4% rise in containers turnover in Jan.-Feb., 841.900 TEUs

Total volumes of container turnover at the Port of Long Beach (USA) in January-February 2010 increased by 17.4% as compared with the same period last year, to 841.939 thousand TEUs, the Port Authority statement said. In February 2010 the port’s container turnover amounted to 413.134 TEUs, a 3.7% drop from volumes handled in January this year.

Long Beach is the largest port of the Pacific coast of the USA. Together with Los Angeles port the Long Beach form the U.S. largest port area, with one of the biggest global cargo turnover. In 2008 the Port of Long Beach reported it handled 5 million TEUs.
