Los Angeles Port posts a 9.74% rise in containers turnover, at 1.09 million TEUs in Jan.- Feb.

Containers turnover at the Port of Los Angeles (United States) in January-February 2010 increased by 9.74% as compared with the same period of 2009, up to 1 million 98 thousand 427,75 TEUs, the Port Authority statistics said.

In February, the port’s container counts totaled 525.458.60 TEUs, a 26.95 percent rise over February 2009.

Long Beach is the largest port of the Pacific coast of the USA. The Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach together form the U.S. port area, with one of the biggest freight traffic in the world. In 2008 the Los Angeles’ container counts amounted to 5 million TEUs. Last year it was reported at 6.7 million TEUs.
