FCC’s traffic volumes up 1.6 times, to 42m tons in January-February

In January-February First Cargo Company OJSC increased the volume of traffic as much as 1.6 times in comparison with the same period of 2009, to 42 million tons, the company’s statistics said.

The reported volumes include 14.3 million tons of coal, a 62.5% jump from Jan-Feb, 2009, 12.1 million tons of oil cargo (+24.7%), 3.9 million tons of ore (+29.4%), 2.8 million tons of ferrous metals (+211.1%), 1.2 million tons of timber cargo (+33.3%), 1.6 million tons of building materials (+14.3%), 1 million tons of chemical and mineral fertilizers (66.6%), 1.0 million tons of cement (11.1%) and 4.1 million tons of other cargoes.

The FCC’s statement said its share in the latest two months in the overall volumes of freight traffic on the Russian Railways фnetwork, amounted to 21.7%, a 6 percent gain from the same period last year.

First Cargo Company OJSC founded in 2007 has been the largest rail cargo operator in Russia. The Company maintains and operates its fleet of 205.000 rail cars making up 21 percent in the Russia’s rolling stock (RZD OJSC, Russian Railways - 41%, RZD’s subsidiaries&controlled companies - 4%, Privately held - 34%). In 2009, the FCC’s traffic volumes rose as much as 1.9 times over 2008’s numbers, to 231.8 million tons of commodities.
