Russian FCS tightens control on customs value of goods

The Board of the Federal Customs Service (FCS) of Russia agreed to strengthen control on customs value of goods, including the risks management, primarily in terms of taxation, FCS press release said. This year, the statement said, the agency will develop the regulation of financial guarantees on payments of customs duties.

Besides, the Customs agency plans to continue the implementation of computerized information technology in customs procedure, review and reduce the authority of a number of customs posts.

The Federal Customs Service said it would be focused on the formation and functioning of the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, as well as the implementation of the Concept of customs clearance and customs control of goods in locations close to the Russia’s border as the Service’s main priorities.

In 2009 under this Concept the number of customs posts shrank from 121 to 113, 64 posts were removed and 16 were established, 50 customs posts changes their locations.
