Port of Ust-Luga is located on Russia’s border with the EU. Deep harborage waters (16 m) and a 3.7-km approach canal make the port of Ust-Luga (still under construction) the major Russian port on the Baltic Sea. The port facilities allow handling 75.000-dwt bulkers and 120.000-dwt tankers. After its completion the special marine port of Ust-Luga will become the final point of the Baltic Pipeline System 2 (BPS-2). The start of marine terminal is scheduled for 2012. The last year output statistics showed 10.3 million tons of handled cargoes and 1.031 ship calls (517 inbound and 514 outbound).
