Two oil ships collide near Venezuelan port

Two ships belonging to Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA collided on Tuesday, but it was not immediately clear if they were carrying cargo, local media reported according to Reuters.

The accident occurred near a port in the central state of Miranda between the Negra Matea liquefied gas transporter and the Paramacay, which frequently carries crude derivatives, Caracas daily El Universal reported.

Officials at PDVSA did not immediately comment on the report.

OPEC member Venezuela, one of the world's leading oil exporters, provides nearly 10 percent the United States' imported crude oil.
