Japan hopes ESPO pipeline and oil terminal to be built in time
Realization of the development program of the Far East and Transbaikalia is in the national interests of Russia as well as Japan, as Mr. Motoyuki OKA, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Sumitomo Corporation”, the Cairman of Japanese-Russian Committee on Economic Collaboration, announced at the plenary meeting of the V Baikal Economic Forum according to vladivostoktimes.com. He noted that Japanese companies are involved in realization of the Russian regional projects, as the forum press service reports. According to him, the second stage of construction of Pacific pipeline, which is also the solution for power security of Asia, is among the projects, which have great influence on bilateral relations of the countries. Mr. OKA expressed his hope that the construction of the “Eastern Siberia – Pacific Ocean” pipeline and oil terminal in Primorsky Territory will be finished in time. In his opinion, development of Elginsky coal field (Yakutia, the biggest coal field in Russia), which has great influence on coal supply to Asia, is also a very important project. Motoyuki OKA noted that Baikal Forum is very important for development of relations between Russia and Japan. In addition, he stressed that holding APEC Summit 2012 in Russia gives it an opportunity to strengthen its reputation in the world arena.
