The crew of the Faina ship that has been hijacked by Somalia pirates consists of three Russians, 17 Ukrainians and one Latvian citizen, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday according to Itar-Tass.
“The embassies of Ukraine and Great Britain to Kenya have been instructed to ascertain all the circumstances of the incident,” the ministry stressed. “The issue has been taken under special control by the Consular Service Department,” it said.
The Faina ship was hijacked on Thursday evening. The Sovfrakht Internet publication reported on Friday that to all appearances, the vessel has on board military equipment, including T-72 tanks.
