Kazakhstan’s Port of Aktau traffic drops 3.5% in January-April
Cargo throughput at RSE Aktau International Commercial Sea Port (Port of Aktau, Kazakhstan) in January-April totaled more than 3,754,000 tons of dry bulk cargo and oil products, which is a 3.5% decline year-on-year, the company’s statistics said.
During the reporting period, crude and oil product shipments totaled 2,482,000 tons, down 13.6% from the figures in Jan-Apr 2011, while dry bulk cargo volume leaped by 27% to 1,271,000 tons, including 497,000 tons of steel products.
The ferry traffic volume reached 419,000 tons. The number of calls for the four months amounted to 656 ships.
In April, Aktau Port handled 906,000 tons of dry bulk cargo and oil products.
The Republican State Enterprise Aktau International Sea Commercial Port (Port of Aktau), located on the east coast of the Caspian Sea, is the premier port of Kazakhstan. The port is a gateway for international trade flows passing through the country. The Aktau port’s terminals handle a broad range of dry cargoes, crude oil and petroleum products.
