Vladimir Putin unveils Russia’s government make-up
Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced the appointments to ministerial posts in the renewed Russian government.
Vladislav Surkov was tapped as the head of the apparatus of the Russian government and Deputy Prime Minister. The new Russian Government will have seven deputy heads of the government.
Igor Shuvalov was named as the Vice Premier in the new government.
Dmitry Kozak will retain his post as Deputy Prime Minister, as well as Dmitry Rogozin. Former assistance to Dmitry Medvedev Arkady Dvorkovich was appointed Deputy Prime Minister. New Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets will deal with social issues. Alexander Khloponin was appointed Deputy Prime Minister, as Presidential Envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District.
Alexander Novak will be in charge of the Ministry of Energy. Anton Siluanov was named as the Ministry of Finance. The following officials retained their posts: Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Minister of Justice Alexander Konovalov, Minister of Sports Vitaly Mutko.
Nikolai Nikiforov was appointed head of the Ministry of Communications, Vladimir Puchkov was tapped as Minister of Emergencies Situations (EMERCOM). Vladimir Kolokoltsev will replace Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev. Ministry of Health - Veronica Skortsova, Ministry of Agriculture - the former head of Chuvashia Nikolai Fyodorov, the Ministry of Culture - Vladimir Medinsky, Minister of Education and Science - Dmitry Livanov. Denis Manturov will head the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Maxim Sokolov was appointed as the Ministry of Transport. Minister for Development of the Far East - Viktor Ishayev. Oleg Hovorun - Minister of Regional Development, etc.
