Ras Al Khaimah to сonstruct new container terminal in Poti Seaport
Ras Al Khaimah, an investment agency, has decided to construct a new container terminal in the Poti Seaport since the container turnover in the seaport has increased by 25% for the last year.
The new terminal will meet modern standards and will be constructed on 100 hectares over three years, company management said. Until the construction of the new terminal, the 14th dock will be transformed into a container terminal. RAKIA has allocated 11m Euro to this end.
The works will be performed in three stages. USD 1m has already been invested in the project and the company has acquired two Kalmar trucks.
The project will end in July 2009. The transformed container terminal will double the container turnover.
