Shipping companies of Odessa region carried 378,200 tonnes of cargo in Jan-Feb 09
Shipping companies of the Odessa region (Ukraine) carried 378,200 tonnes of cargo in January-February 2009 (-49.2%, year-on-year), Vikna Odesa reports.
Foreign trade transportation fell by 47.3%, total cargo turnover – by 54.3% to 415.8 mln t/km.
In the reported period, seaports of the region handled 1,962 vessels (-28.3%, year-on-year). In particular, handling of vessels owned and chartered by foreigners fell by 22.1% to 1,542.
In 2008, ship owners of the Odessa region decreased cargo transportation by 24.4% to 4.5 million tonnes.
The region’s largest shipping companies are Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company (Izmail) and Ukrferry (Odessa).
