Murmansk Shipping Company expands its fleet with a new bulk carrier
Murmansk Shipping Company OJSC has expanded its fleet with a new bulk carrier Novaya Zemlya. The ceremony of the colours and namegiving was held March 31, 2009 at Chengxi Shipyard Co., LTD in Jiangyin (China), press center of the Shipping Company reports. According to the source the ceremony was attended by the representatives of Russian diplomatic corps in China, representatives of Russian Maritime Registry of Shipping, heads of the shipping company and the shipyard.
The Novaya Zemlya is the forth reinforced ice-class bulk carrier of the series of vessels acquired by MSC during the last four years (in 2006 - Grumant, in 2007 - Pomorje, in 2008 – Zapolyarje).
The vessel’s displacement – 31,755 tonnes, deadweight – 23,645 tonnes, length – 173.28 m, breadth – 22.86 m, draft – 9.91 m. The vessels is registered with the Russian International Register of Vessels as class KM(STAR)Аrc4 [1] AUT1 BULK CARRIER BC-A (ESP) of Russian Maritime Registry of Shipping.
