Onega Shipyard (Karelia) plans to launch the 12th vessel of Kareliya type (Captain Kozhevnikov) in May 09 and the 3rd vessel project DCV33 in summer 09, PortNews IAA learnt from the company. The 3rd dry cargo carrier project DCV33 with deadweight of about 4,570 tonnes was ordered by Estonian company Eestinova OU. The vessel was laid down on December 25, 2008. This European coaster meets the requirements to transport cargo between EU ports.
The craft is designed by the Maritime Engineering Bureau, Odessa and built to GL class.
In the nearest future the shipyard is to continue construction of DCV-33 vessels. There are preliminary agreements for construction 15 vessels, the construction of which s to be supervised by the German Lloyd.
The yard has been producing vessels of Kareliya type from 2003. The eleventh ship (the m/v"Vladimir Noskov") is a sea-and-river going vessel with a displacement of 5,400 tonnes. All dry cargo carriers of this type are capable of carrying timber, dry bulk, grain and large-size cargo as well as containers. The vessel is fitted with up-to-date equipment to transport cargo by international routes with cruising range of up to 4,000 sea miles.
