In the first quarter of 2009, commercial seaports of Ukraine handled 25.123 million tonnes of cargo (-19.4%, year-on-year), Ukraine’s Ministry of Transport and Communications reports according to RZD-Partner.
In the reported period, transit transshipment fell by 65.5% to 10.122 million tonnes.
In March Ukrainian seaports handled 8.972 million tonnes of cargo (-22%, year-on-year) with transit accounting for 3.47 million tonnes (-2%, year-on-year).
However, the Ministry underlines that March transshipment exceeds that of January by 12% and that of February by 8.6%.
