In the first quarter of 2009, Odessa Commercial Sea Port handled 7.352 million tonnes of cargo (-19%, year-on-year), the company’s press center reports.
According to the port, transshipment of dry cargo fell by 2.5% to 3.211 million tonnes including 2.325 million tonnes of general cargo (-29.3%, year-on-year).
Transshipment of dry bulk increased by 89.2% to 1.816 million tonnes including grain, the transshipment of which increased by 103.5% and bulk ore — by 143.7%. However transshipment of ferrous metal fell by 18.8%, containers — by 50.8%, timber — by 62.1%, citruses and bananas — by 13%. Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo fell by 35.5% to 3.212 million tonnes.
In the reported period the company increased transshipment of liquefied gas (by 140%) and vegetable oils (by 33.3%).
