Volgograd Shipyard launches new sea-and-river going vessel

On April 4, 2009, Volgograd Shipyard (MNP Group) launched a dry cargo carrier project 007RSD07 with two full-revolving screw rudders, the company’s press center reports.

This dry cargo carrier is one of the largest sea-and-river going vessels built in Russia for transportation of general, loose, timber and large-size cargo as well as international-type containers of up to 9 feet in height and hazardous cargo. The design life of the vessel’s hull is 24 years. The navigation area include inland waterways and the basins of Azov, Black, Mediterranean, North and Baltic Seas. Designed by Marine Engineering Bureau (Odessa). 

The vessel’s deadweight is 7,215/4,778, length – 139.99 m, breadth – 16 m, hull height – 6 m, draft in river waters – 3.6 m, draft in sea waters – 4.6 m. Cruising capacity in sea - 30 days, in river - 10 days. Crew - 13. Cruising radius – 7,500 miles.

Capacity of cargo holds – 11,000 m3, number of holds – 4, capacity of ballast tanks – 3,840 m3. Designed speed – 10.5 knots.
