FESCO takes delivery of first B-178 containership FESCO DIOMID
On April 3, the delivery of a new containership FESCO DIOMID of B-178 series to FESCO was held at Stocznia Szczecinska Nowa (Poland). According to FESCO press center, the vessels is the company’s largest containership.
This 42,000-dwt vessel capable of carrying 3,091 TEU is fitted with 650 sockets for refrigerated containers (including 450 on the deck and 200 in the holds). The vessel’s length is 220.5 m and breadth – 32.2 m. The capacity of the marine power plant of 26.270 kWt enables the vessel to maintain service speed of 21 knots.
The vessel is fitted with the latest system of electronic cartography. The crew numbers 17 persons.
FESCO DIOMID is to be chartered by MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Co). In the nearest future the containership will go to Valencia (Spain) and then to the ports of China. In the future, when stable cargo flow revives, the vessel is supposed to be deployed for FESCO own lines linking the ports of China, Korea, Japan and Russia’s Far East.
