All Singapore oil terminals to be inspected
Oil terminals in Singapore are now ready for OCIMF - SIRE (Ship Inspection Report) inspections of tankers, according to a notice from the Singapore Shipping Association (SSA). The effort was initiated by SSA jointly with OCIMF (Oil Companies International Marine Forum) and INTERTANKO in dialogue with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and various oil terminal representatives in Singapore.
The MPA says the new procedures “should be used with immediate effect”.
Guidelines laid out for the industry regarding the SIRE inspections include a three working day notice of vessel arrival to submit inspection requests. It says that “any applications submitted with less than 3 days advance notice will be considered on a case-by-case basis.”
