Volga-Don Shipping Company fined by Georgia for M/V Uspenski’s violation of navigational discipline

M/V V. Uspenski of Volga-Don Shipping Company (VDSC OJSC) detained by Georgia’s coast guard for violation of navigational discipline, has left the port of Batumi and is sailing towards the port of Azov, Mayak radio learnt from Viktor Myakushko, PR deputy Director General of Volga-Don Shipping Company.

According to the source, the fine has been paid in full. The vessel continues its voyage. The fine amount has not been disclosed by Viktor Myakushko.

The information on detaining of M/V V. Uspenski with the crew of 14 (Russian) by Georgia’s coast guard was received at 22:07 April 6. The vessel was sailing from the port Hopo (Turkey) to the port of Azov in ballast. The 5,379-dwt M/V built in 1978 flies the flag of Cambodia.

As Viktor Myakushko, representative of VDSC press center said Tuesday, the vessel sailed outside the allowed area of navigation. “The fine will be paid and the vessel will go further on its business,” Myakushko said.
