The environment of the Kerch Strait has been revived, RIA Novosti cites Aleksandr Ship, acting deputy head of the Administration of Temryuk district (Krasnodar region).

According to Aleksandr Ship, “no piece of heavy fuel oil is on the shore today”. “The Nature itself worked all this time. Besides, everything was taken away after the disaster,” he added.

Temryuk district, being washed by two seas – Azov and Black – plans to accept up to 800,000 vacationists (+25%, year-on-year).

The storm in the Kerch Strait of November 11, 2007 resulted in drowning of four vessels, grounding of six vessels and damage of two vessels. Some 2,000 tonnes of heavy fuel oil spilled out of the Volgoneft-139 tanker. As it was registered the next day, the concentration of oil products in water was 50 was times as much as the maximal allowable level which caused mass birds and fish mortality.
