Third 156,000-dwt Suezmax tanker laid down in China for Novoship
Jiangsu Rongsheng Heavy Industries (China) has laid down the keel of the third 156,000-dwt Suezmax tanker (of the series of 6 vessel) for Novoship OJSC. The vessels are being built within the framework of the company’s fleet renovation program. The vessel will be named NS Breeze, Nrnews.Ru reports.
Metal cutting for the sixth tanker of the series started in the middle of March. The tanker is designed for crude transportation. Its length will be 274 m, breadth – 48 m, draft – 17 m, speed 15.1 knots. The construction is supervised by Lloyd's Register.
The construction is to be completed by the end of this year. Besides, Novoship will get 4 more Aframax tankers for transportation of large batches of oil products.
Novoship's fleet totals 55 modern vessels aggregating 3.7 million deadweight tonnes. . The tanker fleet is one of the youngest in the industry – the vessels are 9 years old on average. . At present there are 14 new vessels on order representing 1.4 million deadweight tonnes to be delivered by the end of 2010.
