Ports of Ukraine in recession
15 of 19 State’s Sea Commercial Ports of Ukraine have decreased freight traffic in the 1st quarter, RZD-Partner reports.
Cargo transit fell in all ports of "Big Odessa" (by 9% in “Odessa”, by 10 % in “Iliichevsk” and by 8 % in “Southern”), compared to the period from January to March of last year. The ports of Ukrainian Azov reduced transshipment too (Port of Mariupol by 29 % and Berdyansk by 14 %). And even worse fall in the turnover was in the ports of Ukrainian Dunabe (Reniisky Port - by 44 % and Port of Izmail - by 47%).
An exception in the group of Nikolaev Sea Ports was Kherson port, which increased transshipment by 13 % to 0.82 million tons. The leader of this region was Port of Nikolaev, which showed 20% decrease.
In the Crimea two ports, showed growth - Feodosia and Kerch. The Port of Feodosia has increased trans-shipment by 31% to 0.89 million tons and became the leader in volumes of moved cargoes in this region. The Port of Kerch has increased trans-shipment by 4% to 0.74 million tons.
The fourth port of the Ukraine which kept positive development was Ust-Danube, with growth by 1.8 times, up to 43 thousand tons.
