Throughput of Commercial Port of Vladivostok down 26.7% to 1.1 mln t in Q1 09
In the first quarter of 2009, Commercial Port of Vladivostok (VMTP OJSC) handled 1.103 million tonnes of cargo (-26.7%, year-on-year), the company’s press center reports.
In the first quarter of 2008, VMTP handled 1.505 million tonnes of cargo.
As it was reported earlier, VMTP plans a 32-pct decrease of throughput to 4 million tonnes in 2009 with import, export and coastal trade cargo to account for relatively similar volumes. This year the company expects handling of metal, processed timber, containers, consumer goods, construction materials, automobile equipment, grain.
Commercial Seaport of Vladivostok is located on the North-West shore of an ice-free Bay of Zolotoi Rog. The company operates 17 berths with total length of 4,200 meters. Open storage facilities cover the territory of 177,414 sq m, warehouses – 49,763 sq m. In 2008, the company handled 5.9 million tonnes of cargo.
