India's Cochin Shipyard plans to build Kerala repair complex
Сochin Shipyard Ltd has expressed its interest in setting up a ship repair complex/shipyard near the proposed international transhipment port at Vizhinjam. The EoI has been submitted by the company to the Kerala Government for ajoint venture.
Cochin Shipyard has projected a requirement of 150-200 acres of land with a waterfront length of 1.5 km to 2 km, which will have connectivity to the shipping channel. Initial investment, excluding the land cost, is expected to be around Rs 1,000 crore.
The employment generation potential of this project is expected to be in the range of 1,000 direct and 5,000 indirect, senior officials in CSL said.
