Crude transshipment via Belokamenka terminal to make 9 mln t in 2009 – Sergei Didenko
In 2009, Belokamenka oil terminal will handle 8 million tonnes of oil from Varandey oil export terminal and 1 million tonnes of Rosneft oil, Sergei Didenko, head of Murmansk Seaport Administration FSUE told journalists.
According to Sergei Didenko, in the nearest future LUKOIL and Rosneft are to sign an agreement on transshipment of Russian export oil from Varandey via Belokamenka terminal.
Sergei Didenko noted that there are certain issues to be finally regulated after integration of the fishing and commercial ports’ administrations due to imperfect legal basis. The issue will be closed upon of the approval of Rosrybolovstvo and the Ministry of Transport, Sergei Didenko thinks.
The Varandey oil export terminal is designed for offshore export of the oil extracted by LUKOIL in Timan-Pechora oil and gas province. The terminal is located in the Barents Sea some 23 km off the coast. Oil cargo is pumped to tankers of up to 20,000 tonnes in capacity for further transshipment in Murmansk port via Belokamenka terminal (storage tanker owned by Rosneft). Annual capacity of Varandey is 12 million tonnes. The project comprises sea storage tank farm, sea ice-strengthened berth, two pipelines and other infrastructure. According to PortNews IAA oil shipment from Varandey terminal totaled 1.4 mln t in 2008. Throughput of Belokamenka terminal amounted to 7.3 million tonnes.
