Ventspils nafta transships 3.8 mln t of crude and oil products in Q1 09
Joint stock company’s Ventspils nafta subsidiary crude oil and petroleum products transshipment company SIA Ventspils nafta terminals ensured stable level of transshipment volumes of crude oil and petroleum products in the first quarter of 2009, and these are analogue with the transshipment volumes reached by the terminal in the first three months of 2008.
In the period of January-March 2009, SIA Ventspils nafta terminals transshipped 3.8 million tons of crude oil and petroleum products. The largest proportion in the structure of the cargos transshipped in this year’s first month is formed by more than 2.7 million tons of diesel fuel delivered by railway and via petroleum products pipeline. 0.7 million tons of the total transshipment volumes is formed by motor gasoline of various grades transported by railway and other petroleum products, and 0.3 million tons – by crude oil and petroleum product cargos delivered by sea.
In 2009, SIA Ventspils nafta terminals is working in circumstances of intense competition and global financial and economic crisis, at the same time continuing implementation of the company’s modernization projects and seeking possibilities of developing new value added services, in order to strengthen positions of SIA Ventspils nafta terminals as the largest crude oil and petroleum products transshipment complex in the Baltic region.
SIA Ventspils nafta terminals td is a subsidiary of AS Ventspils nafta. 51% of it belongs to AS Ventspils nafta while 49% are owned by the Vitol company Euromin Holdings (Cyprus) Limited. The terminal renders transit services: reception of oil and diesel fuel via pipelines, as well as reception, storage and transshipment of diesel fuel, motor gasoline and other petroleum products delivered by railway and sea.
SIA Ventspils nafta terminals is the largest of such companies in the region, and its crude oil and petroleum products shore-tank farm reaches 1.2 million cubic meters and has no analogues among similar companies in the nearest countries.
