China Shipping Group president Li Shaode said the strategy to build Shanghai into world shipping hub offers tremendous opportunities for the group's future development.
Mr Li said that the group will increase investment in material and capital in the Port of Shanghai to expand its network coverage and enhance feeder services from the port. It also plans to upgrade its fleet and accelerate development of its shipbuilding business, and will talk with relevant authorities on setting up shipping industry development fund, marine insurance and financing.
From 2002 to 2008, China Shipping accounted for the largest part of throughput for Port of Shanghai and has entered into a formal partnership with the Shanghai International Port Group.
