FESCO expects decrease of cargo transportation by 25-35% in 2009

Far Eastern Shipping Company (FESCO) expects the decrease of cargo transportation by 25-35% in 2009, PortNews IAA learnt from the company. In the middle of June the company is to start operation in the ports of Anadyr Bay; navigation period in eastern part of the Arctic is expected to last from July 25 to October 25.


In 2008, 175,700 tonnes of cargo was delivered to Chukotka and eastern part of the Arctic including 48,600 tonnes of liquid bulk cargo, 28,600 tonnes of coal and  98,500 tonnes of other cargo. FESCO vessels made 16 voyages and delivered 76,100 tonnes of cargo. 

Far Eastern Shipping Company OJSC is a basic company of FESCO Transport Group. It specializes in transportation of dry bulk and general cargo. The company’s fleet comprises 67 vessels with total deadweight exceeding 900,000 tonnes.
