Throughput of Izmail commercial seaport (Ukraine) down 46.6% to 1 mln t in Q1 09

In the first quarter of 2009, commercial seaport of Izmail handled 1.028 million tonnes of cargo (-46.6%, year-on-year), the company states. Transshipment of transit cargo fell by 30.3% to 472,000 tonnes, export – by 55.1% to 550,000 tonnes.

In the reported period, transshipment of coal fell by 13.1%, ore –3.8 times while transshipment of export rain climbed almost 100%.

Commercial seaport of Izmail is located at the crossing of important trade routes linking Mediterranean states with the Middle East and North Africa with Danube states of the West Europe and CIS. The depth is from 3.5 to 7.0 meters. Total length of equipped berths is 2,666 meters. The port accepts vessels of up to 150 meters in length, 30 meters in width and 7 meters in draft. The port is open for navigation round the year. In 2008, throughput of Izmail port increased by 0.1% to 6.9 million tonnes, net profit –2.5 times to UAH 8 mln.
