On the 8th of April ECT and Kombiverkehr jointly launched the “Betuwe-Express”. The train operates a daily service between the ECT terminals in Rotterdam Maasvlakte and the DeCeTe hinterland terminal in Duisburg. The connection allows direct onward transport of containers from Maasvlakte to the hinterland and vice versa.
The connection between DeCeTe and the Port of Duisburg-Ruhrort DUSS terminal also guarantees excellent services to more than 70 destinations in Europe, for example to and from Leipzig or Munich, and further on to Italy, Poland, Slovenia and Turkey.
The rail link fits in with the ECT Extended Gate® concept, which envisages the connection of ECT deepsea terminals with a network of its own hinterland terminals. In this ECT offers its customers fast and efficient rail links to the European hinterland. This strategy also supports efforts to transport containers increasingly by rail and inland waterways.
